More about a coaching session
I had always struggled with the label of "patient," and with relief now refer to those I work with as clients. We collaborate--we brainstorm, we are co-creators. I have joked for years, "I would never tell a patient what to do." Now that premise is a given; clients come to their own decisions and directions and definitions of health. I provide information and encouragement, drawing from my past careers, in particular as an anthroposophic physician. Yes I can act as interpreter of medical information. I do not prescribe, nor will I give medical advice.
And--our humanity and how we live our lives is at the heart of most consults.
Some clients seek me out as they embark on a new life journey that requires a review of their lives--biography work. Others face a medical challenge that they want counsel for, both in coping with a new or grave diagnosis, and how to weave this new reality into a necessarily changing life.
An increasing number of physicians seek out my coaching service; I am a safe harbor in which to explore medicine's harshness, and the difficult situations and choices physicians face on a daily basis.
Every person has different needs; we negotiate how often we meet, how much time we spend, and what your goals are.
As a coach I only discuss changes or potential treatments; our communication is not intended as prevention, treatment, diagnosis, or cure of any illness or state; our contact is educational. I always recommend you consult with your physician or other licensed practitioner with questions you may have regarding medical conditions before undertaking any changes in lifestyle, or ingestion of any substances, including food or supplements.
$200/hour or portion thereof; a minimum of 15 minute phone time for $50. Unless arranged beforehand, payment at time of service.
